Otters' Haunt is a little bit of paradise situated on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys. The guest house, cottage and bush camp offer home away from home accommodation. All units have simple, comfortable and functional furnishings. Ideal for couples, families and groups of nature lovers and adventurers. Activities include fly-fishing, white water rafting, kayaking, Vredefort Dome tours, hiking, bird watching and mountain biking.

Only one hour from Johannesburg and 2 km from Parys in the Vredefort Dome, Otters' Haunt offers a quiet and friendly retreat on the banks of the Vaal River. Protected by the many island channels, nature is on your doorstep.

The Otters' Den guest house, cottage or bush cabins are ideal for travellers, fly-fisher people, friends and family get-togethers, corporate sessions, team-building and lazy getaways.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at otters haunt. Our River front cottage was spacious and comfortable. Electric blankets ensured we were warm at night. Our 10 year old loved the adventure of exploring the Islands and going on the canoe. We will be back.

We were disappointed to find that the cottage we had booked was not available not that there were other guests! Not having showers is a real drawback and a water problem in the morning caused great difficulties for bathing. It was unfortunately disappointing that what is promised on the website is not what you get. It is a lovely setting and could have great potential - unfortunately falls far short at present.

Our stay at Otters Haunt was okay - We enjoyed the setting and layout of the cottage - we were however disgusted with the fact that only certain persons had access to the use of the Jacuzzi and that nowhere there was any indication that there was NO music allowed before we made the booking.

Very dissappointing! Old fashioned decor, taps fixed with insulation tape, broken windows fixed with newspaper, cracks in walls, wet walls, open swimming pool area (not safe for children) and very expensive for what we paid and what we got!
