Otters' Haunt is a little bit of paradise situated on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys. The guesthouse, cottage and bush camp offer comfortable home from home self-catering accommodation ideal for families and groups of nature lovers and adventurers. Activities include fly fishing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, Vredefort Dome tours, hiking, bird watching and mountain biking.

Only 1 hour from Johannesburg, 2 km from Parys in the Vredefort Dome Otters' Haunt offers a quiet and friendly retreat on the banks of the Vaal River. Protected by the many island channels, nature is on your doorstep.

It comprises a hallway, comfy bedroom-en-suite with a wardrobe and a very attractive bathroom, and a lounge/kitchenette containing an extra sleeper couch and TV. The cottage has an outlook over the lawns of Otters’ Haunt down to the Vaal River, and has its own front lawn, porch and braai area, as well as a shaded parking spot.

Wonderful stay

My partner and I had an absolutely wonderful stay over the weekend, we wished it was longer! The setting is beautiful, quiet and tranquil and the cottage offered everything that we needed. We also had a great time on the river with the canoes. Otter's Haunt will surely see us again.

As usual staying at Otters' Haunt was peaceful and enjoyable. Karen Addison was her usual hospitable self and a pleasure to deal with. Fishing was hard and the terrain rough, but if you love boulders and you don't mind the challenge of trying to nab one of the prolific yellow fish, it is definitely the place to go.
