Otter's Haunt is awesome
Very relaxed comfortable accommodation with lot's of room for kids to run. Had a lovely weekend. Hosts Karen & Graeme are awesome.

Had everything a person needed for a short stay! Very quiet there, no traffic, no aeroplanes etc. I won't hesitate to go there again!

Otters' Haunt is a little bit of paradise situated on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys. The guesthouse, cottage and bush camp offer comfortable home from home self-catering accommodation ideal for families and groups of nature lovers and adventurers. Activities include fly fishing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, Vredefort Dome tours, hiking, bird watching and mountain biking. Only 1 hour from Johannesburg, 2km from Parys in the Vredefort Dome Otters' Haunt offers a quiet and friendly retreat on the banks of the Vaal River. Protected by the many island channels, nature is on your doorstep. The Otters' Den guest house, cottage or bush cabins are ideal for travelers, fly fisher people, friends and family get together, corporate sessions, teambuilding and lazy getaways.

The River House, or Otters' Den, lends real meaning to graceful outdoor living. Walk in off the oak-shaded lawns and enjoy a refreshing swim in the swimming pool. The large roofed porch overlooks the pool with the river below. Built nearly half a century ago, the main "Otters' Den" River House has one of the most impressive and exclusive outlooks along the entire Vaal. Includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large living room, log fireplace and DSTV (you must bring your own smart card) and large fully equipped kitchen. Suitable for families, friends and small groups. Minimum 5 persons. Use of the private outdoor jacuzzi must be requested prior to arrival.

This self-contained cottage accommodates 2 people or a small family. It has a restful, out-of-the-way atmosphere and is named after the flocks of guinea fowl that frequent the nearby field. It comprises a hallway, comfy bedroom-en-suite with a wardrobe and a very attractive bathroom, and a lounge / kitchenette containing an extra sleeper couch and TV. The cottage has an outlook over the lawns of Otters’ Haunt down to the Vaal River, and has its own front lawn, porch and braai area, as well as a shaded parking spot.
