Onverwagsfontein is the picture perfect farm offering a cosy, farm-style cottage. This is the ideal location to escape the city and live the farm life for a day or two whilst enjoying true Karoo hospitality. Peacocks, geese, doves, chickens, a duck and a makou are part of the family.

This lovely farm cottage has Oregon floors and a big fireplace, ideal for the cold Sneeuberg winters. The bedrooms have a warm cosy feel to them with wooden doors and wood-framed beds. The cottage is comfortably furnished and has a fully equipped kitchen. The cottage also has spectacular views of the Sneeuberg mountains and miles of open space. Good quality linen and brushed winter sheets are provided for those cold nights; snuggle up under goose down and duck feather duvets.

Karoo lamb braai packs are available. Please order in advance with your booking. Wood is also available. As Nieu-Bethesda is a small village, your grocery shopping should be done in Graaff-Reinet or Middelburg.

Beautiful cottage

We stayed overnight here and found the cottage to be well equipped and with a lot of little extra touches which made the cottage feel more homely. We would definitely recommend Onverwagsfontein.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this remote and quaint cottage. It was awesome staying in this old restored and preserved farmhouse. We loved the wooden floors and huge fireplace. It's a very relaxing place. Nieu Bethesda of course is far removed from the world with lots of little gems and the most amazing people! This was a great two-day stopover for us on our way to the Garden Route. Thanks Sunet and Kosie! We hope to see you again!
