Onverwacht Flora Accommodation is situated high up in the Riviersonderend Mountains, halfway between the twin villages of McGregor and Greyton. Onverwacht offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Only a two-hour drive from Cape Town brings you to what is often described as 'The road to nowhere'.

These seven self-catering units have no electricity but each unit has a fireplace. All of the units are fully equipped with crockery, cutlery and cookware. The units have a two-plate gas stove, gas geysers, oil lamps and candles. Guests must please bring their own bed linen and towels, but these can also be provided on request at an extra cost. All units have their own private barbecue facilities.

Onverwacht is situated at the beginning of the Boesmanskloof/Die Galg Trail on the McGregor side; the trail is our main attraction to Onverwacht. We accommodate a lot of hikers, hiking from Greyton and backwards for a 2 day trail and overnight at Onverwacht.
This nature lovers' paradise is situated at the start of the famous Boesmanskloof Hiking Trail. Onverwacht is surrounded by mountain streams, hiking trails, 4x4 routes, protea plantations and mountain bike routes. The lights of the visible towns are a spectacular sight at night and the sunrise in the east is a breathtaking vision for the early birds.

The four Berghuisies are named Exemia, Sewejaartjie, Repens and Erica. They have a magnificent vista over the Riviersonderend and Galgeberg Mountains and they overlook the mountain rock pools in front of the cottages. Each unit has an open plan-kitchen with a table and two single beds, and there are two bedrooms with three single beds in each room.

This private, romantic cottage overlooks the whole Breede Valley with perfect views. The built-in, double stone bed is very popular and there is a fireplace in front of the bed. The oil lamps and the candles give that extra romantic touch. The view from the toilet and shower speaks for itself.

They offer the perfect settings of the natural beauty of the fauna and flora of Onverwacht, with lovely patios overlooking the whole area. A real rustic cottage!

If you are looking for a real rustic cottage, Kliphuisie is it! It has all the bare necessities you need and the most amazing fireplace for those cold evenings, not to mention the stunning views from all angles.

We stayed in the Kliphuisie, which was simply the cutest cottage that there is. Arriving at such a quaint cottage after a full day's hike is such a wonderful reward. Jappie and Sandra had gone out of their way to purchase dinner for us saving us carrying it up the mountain. On arrival there where two beers waiting on ice!
