Description
Situated between the mountain and the ocean in the Walker Bay region lays Onrus, a small tranquil village just 8 km from the centre of Hermanus, the heart of the Whale Route. Onrus B&B is situated on part of the land where the old Onrus Hotel was built in 1911. The barbecue area of the Hotel still remains and is now part of the barbecue area of Onrus B&B where guests can enjoy a real South African braai under the milkwood trees while breathing in the fresh aroma of the sea.
Hermanus offers the world's best place to view whales. It's an unforgettable and absolutely spectacular experience to see the biggest mammals in the world so up close. The town of Hermanus offers a wide range of activities to visitors which include boat rides, shark viewing and shark cage diving for the more adventurous visitors, fishing, surfing, swimming, and much more. Hermanus is not only renowned for its ocean life but also the fynbos. Visitors can enjoy footpaths in the mountain and reserves while they have a spectacular view of the ocean at the same time.
The village of Onrus is a small seaside resort offering a lovely sandy swimming beach, excellent surfing, a lagoon with a boardwalk bordering the Nature Reserve, bird watching, fishing, crayfishing, art galleries, and excellent restaurants, all within walking distance of the Onrus B&B. We are also only a 15-minute drive to either Arabella or Hermanus Golf Clubs and a five-minute drive to the start of the Hemel 'n Aarde Wine Valley.
Onrus B&B offers 3 Star accommodation with country style hospitality from the heart. We also offer en-suite rooms with a panoramic view of the ocean. All the rooms have access to the balcony and televisions and guests can help themselves to coffee and tea in the guest lounge. In addition, we provide safe off-street parking and barbecue facilities for our guests. Onrus B&B is the ideal base from which to explore the lovely Overberg area.
