A communal swimming pool and braai/barbacue area is to be found about 80 metres from the chalet, along a winding brick pathway through the trees. Beyond the pool area, the path culminates in a small jetty at the edge of the lagoon amongst the tall water reeds in which hundreds of indigenous birds make their nests in the spring.
A small rowing boat is kept in the garage below the chalet. Guests are welcome to use it to discover the rich bird life around the lagoon or to paddle about 400 metres across the water to the beach. (This is the beach seen in the picture on the home page). The safe shallow lagoon - an adult can stand in most places - with its smooth sandy bottom, is ideal for boardsailing.
A secure, protected bathing beach of internationally recognised standards is within a five-minute drive from the chalet, or within easy walking distance along the beach seen in the home page picture. Marina Beach is a designated Blue Flag beach.
For golf enthusiasts, the Southbroom Golf Course is no more than a 5-minute drive away. The Impenjata Marine Reserve is situated a few kilometres to the south at the mouth of the Impenjata River. It offers joggers or casual strollers, many kilometres of unspoilt, pristine beach.
