The Ngwesi, the largest island delta in the world, is the most unexpected of wonders: Water in the desert, spreading like an outstretched hand over the thirsty lands of the Kalahari. The pristine landscape and diverse wildlife of the Okavango Delta makes it one of Africa’s prime tourist destinations. The Delta is an untouched water wilderness sanctuary, ideal for quiet discovery and ultimate enjoyment of the abundant game and bird life for which it is world famous.
For the fly fisherman and woman, plying for tiger fish provides the ultimate challenge. Other species such as bream are also found in the Delta. The necessary tackle and bait are provided along with an informative guide who will select a prime spot from where catches are to be made.

Ornithologists have long been drawn to this veritable treasure trove of bird life, which is home to over 400 species of birds among others the Pel’s Fishing Owl, which is often heard but rarely seen. The Delta’s wetland wilderness of looping channels. Islands forested with palms and wide grassy floodplains are host to a magnificent array of wild animals and birds. Great numbers of hippos and crocodiles can be found in the maze of waterways.

An excursion on a tender boat is one of the best ways to navigate this paradise of crystal clear water, verdant vegetation, abundant bird and game under a clear African sky. This is included in the daily rate. Hippos and crocodiles are regularly seen on the river itself, while sightings of other game is more common on the mokoro trips which take one deep into the swamp.
The Ngwesi Houseboat is situated near the village of Seronga and can be reach by road, or by boat transfer from Sepupa.

Our stay on the boat was amazing. We all enjoyed it a lot and would very much recommend it. The food was very good and so were the crew. Hope to do that again in future.
