Description

The farm Namibgrens runs in the Rabie family since 1940. The old spacious farmhouse has been renovated and turned into a relaxed haven for tourists surrounded by a lovely garden. We have no swimming pool, but the four earth dams around the farmhouse more than compensates. Besides our summer temperatures are not very high, 10°C lower than the Namib Desert, due to the high altitude (1760m above sea level)
The farmhouse with a lovely garden and surrounding earth dams, provide the opportunity for bird watchers to explore the mysteries and grace of the wide variety found in the area during the summer and winter season. Pelicans, Flamingos and Black Eagles are occasionally spotted.
Namibgrens Guest Farm is situated on the escarpment that provides ever-lasting views over the Namib Desert. Different scenes from different angles are possible by either driving on the main road, guided farm tours or by hiking trails.
The rocky and ever changing landscape with its rich fauna and flora allows the hiker to explore nature on the challenging and picturesque dassie hiking trails that vary from 2 hours to 3 day hikes. They provide breathtaking scenes over the Namib Desert and the farm itself and not to mention Klipspringer, Mountain Zebra, Kudu, Dassies, Baboons and Steenbok that can be seen on the trails.

An unbelievable experience. We are new campers and after being married for 34 years thought we would try something different. It was not even neccesary to set up our tents, there was already a tent set up and the shower inspired me to write a song. The environment is beautiful, the swimming pool the nicest ever, even though I slipped in as it was a bit slippery, but that is how we get wise. A pitty that the stalls wernt operating and that there was no information given on the times ... more

Very pleasant stay, delightful house and hosts, excellent meals (home grown) in a traditional family dining room. Marvellous conservatory. Enjoyed a good walk which was well marked but a bit confusing in places and we decided to retrace our steps as it was getting late in the day instead of completing the circuit.

Really comfortable and clean rooms. Lovely surroundings and well taken care of. Ordering the meals is well worth it - homemade and grown on the farm - very tasty! Nice hosts too.

We had a very nice stay at Namibgrens guest house. Frank and Suzie the managers are very helpful and friendly and provide a nice family atmosphere. My little 3 year old became sick while we were there and they were most helpful. Next time we might even camp at their mountain camp because it is so nicely made with own showers and toilet - very clean and beautiful.
