Nalikwanda Lodge is situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River in Western Zambia. This camp has been designed to provide affordable and comfortable accommodation for families and groups who love fishing, birding, the outdoors and who want to explore Africa.
Nalikwanda Lodge is a self-catering facility with a fully equipped kitchen, a bar and an open air boma area. The kitchen is equipped with gas freezers, refrigerators, gas cookers, tables, cutlery, crockery and basic cooking utensils. The lodge is built entirely of indigenous materials and timber walkways interlink the Chalets to the kitchen, bar and boma area. Be sure to provide your own supplies. If you decide to extend your stay, you can cross back to Namibia for restock at Katima Mulilo.
With a potential bird list of around 500 species, this area supports a diverse range of bird communities and it forms the meeting point for some major bird groups. Bird lovers can explore the area on boat or on foot for sightings along the river and the nearby forests to encounter some of the most beautiful birds Zambia has to offer.
There is excellent fishing throughout the year on this part of the Zambezi River. Various species include the renowned tigerfish, nembwe and various tilapia species such as redbreast, threespot, largemouth, greenhead, pink bream and cat fish can be caught in this part of the Zambezi River. Equipped boats and a fishing raft are available for hire, with experienced guides to accompany guests to the best fishing spots on the river. Other activities include sundowners, river cruises, Mokoro trips, rapid tours, cultural and village visits and guided hiking tours.
