There’s tranquillity in the African Bush that creeps up unexpectedly and nestles in your soul. Maybe it is because nature is so close - the wildlife and the birds, the wind in the trees- or maybe it’s just Africa and its rhythms. Tucked away in Zambia, along the meandering banks of the mighty Zambezi River, you will find Mvuu Lodge, “The Place of the Hippo”. We are perfectly situated 18 km from the Lower Zambezi National Park, in the Chiawa Game Management Area and right opposite Mana Pools. We are privileged to be based in this pristine part of Zambia and we are delighted to share this solitude and scenic beauty with our guests. Our luxury safari tents will evoke the romantic side of you while our self-catering tents and camping sites will offer you nature at its undisturbed best. Wild animals roam casually through our premises providing you with a truly unforgettable experience. Dinner is served outdoors in the boma or on the viewing deck, where the roaring fire and nocturnal calls of the wild create the perfect, relaxing end to an exhilarating day. Camp sitesX 4

The campsites are situated in close proximity to the Lodge and are nestled in thick bush under a canopy of indigenous trees, providing a cool haven from the African Sun. All the campsites have private facilities with a hot shower, flush toilet and braai area. The ablution facilities are enclosed by stone walls and roofed by the majestic Zambian sky. Elly camp site is closest to the river and can accommodate about 3-4 cars. Mvuu is next to Elly & close to the self catering units and can take about 2 cars. Monkey is our biggest site that can take about 5-7 cars and are a bit away from the river. Leopard is the smallest and can take one car and is closest to the lodge.

The self-catering tents, each with en suite facilities, are on raised wooden decks overlooking the river in an unspoilt natural setting. Each tent has a private braai area and is equipped with the necessary linen, cutlery and crockery. We have 2 x 2 sleepers and 1 x 4 sleeper with 4 twin beds in one room.

Wonderful location

Very nice place with a wonderful location in the Zambezi river. Good attention, I recommend the boat trip, you'll watch a lot oh hippos, elephants and crocodiles!

The environment was excellent, the luxury tent was good and very comfortable, but the gas geyser was not very good. The Lodge personnel were very good and helpful, We felt privileged to have been transported and guided by Troy, a real son of Africa and the Zambezi.
