About Mumbo Island
Mumbo Island is a pristine, deserted, tropical island floating in the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi National Park. With a maze of massive underwater boulders, innumerable species of colourful fish and calm, clear water, the National Park offers what many consider the best freshwater snorkelling and scuba diving in the world.
The island is only 1 km in diameter and has never been populated, so it remains in a pristine, untouched state. Kayak Africa run Mumbo as an entirely off-grid, green camp ensuring that it remains as unspoilt and perfect as it has been forever. Mumbo Island is the jewel of the Lake Malawi National Park. It lies within an exclusive concession, guaranteeing privacy in paradise. Run on sustainable principles, this tranquil island camp is ideal for couples, families, or groups of friends.

Mumbo island is as beautiful (if not more so) than the pictures! It was a wonderful experience spending 7 days on this eco-wonder of an island. The staff are very attentive and the meals were delicious (albeit a little less indigenous than we hoped for). A paradise where you are not pressured into any activities or social situations, but are always able to do so at your leisure. The tents were a little closer to each other than we initially expected and we did lack the privacy we expected, but it was none the less worth a 5 star rating.
