Mukwana Self-catering Guest Lodge

This fairytale mountain retreat lies tucked away amongst the Makhonjwa Mountains, west of the historical town of Barberton. The exclusive and private estate, set in a safe, tranquil and sub-tropical environment, surrounded by an abundance of nature and natural beauty, offers spectacular views over the vast De Kaap Valley and the distant Drakensberg Mountains to the north, east and west.

The pristine African mountain veld offers a wide diversity of fauna and flora and some endemic species occur here, with brilliant colours and the diversity of veld flowers covering the landscape after the first spring rains. Small creeks run through the property forming a canyon with its own waterfall plunging 200 metres down into the valley through a natural riverine forest.

The rustic, African style self-catering guest house can accommodate a maximum of six people in three private bedrooms, each with a double bed and en-suite bathroom. The house boasts a fully equipped kitchen including a gas stove and microwave, pantry, laundry, and study. Features also include a large open-plan lounge and dining area with big screen DStv, a built-in fireplace, and sliding doors leading onto a large deck with an open-air boma and barbecue area. By sharing these communal facilities, the ideal setting is created for making new friends.
