Description

Mr Today’s is a modern luxury villa situated on the Zanzibar Villas’ Private Estate and set in a quiet, natural, bush garden. The villa was built in 2009 for a Dutch couple and stands all on one level, with a large elevated verandah with dining table chairs and hammocks to relax in the soft evening breeze.

Above the surrounding bush and garden guests have a clear view of the waterhole and the game and birds that regularly visit. Walkways around the villa lead back to more private terraces outside each bedroom, providing extra quiet places to sit and ponder on your relaxed life. The whole building, including the terraces and verandah, is covered by a traditional makuti coconut-leaf roof.

The main entrance is through a giant traditional carved Zanzibari door leading into the extremely large open living and dining room. The room is fully furnished with a big second dining table and chairs, modern comfy sofas and chairs surrounding a coffee table, and an entertainment box including satellite TV, a DVD player and iPod or MP3 docking station. Wireless Internet is available throughout, and games and books are also available. At the end of the living room is the semi open-plan well-equipped modern kitchen and stock room with large fridge-freezer and electric hob.

From the lounge you can reach the adjoining bathrooms and bedrooms set on each side for perfect privacy. Both bedrooms can also be accessed directly via the verandah doors outside. Both bedrooms are traditionally furnished with a king-size Zanzibar double bed with warm coloured linen, mosquito nets and traditionally painted and carved antique Zanzibar wardrobes. Zanzibar chests act as safes for your valuables and the coconut pole ceilings, cool terrazzo floors and teak woodwork give the rooms a cool and cosy feeling. The rooms are also fitted with split-level air-conditioning and opening windows.

Both rooms have small adjoining children’s rooms with double bunk bed and large walk-in storage cupboards. It is important to realize that these adjoining bedrooms are accessed through the main bedrooms and share the same bathrooms. The rooms were purpose-built for children but many adults have also used them in the past. Each room features a fan and opening window, and the rooms can share in the air-conditioning if adjoining doors are left open. The large bathrooms are stylish and modern, clean and fresh, with colourful terrazzo floors. Both have large sunken baths for two people, well pressured hot and cold showers, double washbasins, mirrors, hairdryers, and a toilet.

At the communal area in the centre of estate, guests are welcome to use the swimming pool with built-in children’s pool and surrounding recreation area. Features include fully equipped barbecues, cooking equipment and plates, a shower, toilet, and changing room. The area also features a large dining table for 14 people, an honesty bar with fridge, lots of games and inflatables, darts, and table tennis. The pool is surrounded by white sands on which there are tables and chairs, hammocks and plenty of sun loungers, as well as ample shaded areas with large makuti umbrellas. This is a fantastic place to relax and socialize.
