Mountain View Inn is situated between the mighty Umzimvubu River and the Mount Thesiger, just 5 km from the sea. The setting of Port St Johns is possibly the most dramatic in the country and the wildness of the coast caused many a shipwreck along this region of the coast.
The drive from Umtata to Port St Johns is one of the most beautiful stretches on the Wild Coast. Port St Johns offers a unique cultural richness and the traditional and modern Xhosa culture is always apparent. Port St Johns is prime hiking country, with plenty of hiking trails. Other activities in the area include canoe trips, horse riding, golf, and dolphin and whale watching. The sea is always close by, crashing onto the rocky shores which guard the secluded beaches.
Mountain View Inn features three self-catering units, with or without en-suite bathrooms, accommodating up to four guests each and camping is also available. The units contain a small kitchenette with a fridge, or there is an option to use the fully equipped communal kitchen. Meals are also available on request. We offer discounts on group bookings, so please do enquire. In addition, tour and picnics to the surrounding areas with spectacular views, as well as fishing can be arranged.
