Mosaic Sanctuary on the Hermanus Lagoon

Description

Welcome to Mosaic, the retreat between mountain and sea. Surrounded by the whale watching paradise of Walker Bay beach and the majestic Overberg Mountains, Mosaic perfectly blends the glories of nature with country luxury and superb food and wine. Guests will be refreshed in enchanting accommodations, while embracing the natural wonders of the Whale Coast and Cape Floral Kingdom with whale-watching from a secluded beach, quad biking, shark cage diving, kayaking, and bird-watching.

Our fine dining restaurant in the historic 1892 Stanford Spookhuis presents a fusion of classic and contemporary South African cuisine as well as a fabulous wine cellar. We also serve scrumptious picnics under the milkwood trees on the edge of the Hermanus Lagoon. Mosaic is the perfect place for your holiday retreat, wedding, special occasion, or executive conference.

Check-In  03:00 PM   Check-Out 10:30 AM

Beach: Pristine, private, and at our back door, Mosaic borders a secluded part of the Walker Bay Nature Reserve. Join us for beach adventures and unforgettable views of sky, sand, and sea.

Food & Gastronomy: The magic behind our cuisine is the blending of the freshest ingredients and the passionate innovation of our two chefs. We use organic produce and herbs from our garden, fresh local fish and seafood, and premium meats.

Great Outdoors: Mosaic expands from the Hermanus Lagoon to a secluded part of the pristine Walker Bay Beach, the best place in the world for whale watching.

Historical & Cultural: In 1892 an enormous stacked-stone manor house was built on what is now Mosaic Farm. It came to be known as the “Spookhuis” and is a local landmark and legend in South African history.

Wedding Venues: Mosaic Farm is the ideal place for a perfect celebration. The true essence of the bride and groom is centre stage, with Mosaic as the backdrop.

Conference venue: A recent historical restoration has transformed the 1892 Stanford Spookhuis into a magnificent venue for conferences and small weddings.

Outstanding Views: Discover a place of exquisite beauty. A touch of heaven on earth coloured by wild flowers, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the lagoon, ancient milkwood groves, and the majestic Overberg Mountains.

Quiet and sublime
Jim McNamara, South Africa
26 January 2012
Wonderful setting, blissfully quiet (flamingos aside), extremely friendly staff (and knowledgeable too - we did a "game drive" for beach sundowners, and learned a lot about indigenous medicinal plants). Great farm-grown food, and oh my, the graceful flamingos - they squawked us to sleep at night, and then while we were in the middle of breakfast, they rose as one in a graceful arc. We all stopped to watch the awesome show. All in all, a wonderful getaway.
Sanctuary is the right word!
Rebecca Mannion, South Africa

We are a family of three with #4 on the way. We stayed three nights in the Milkwood Cottage 3. I believe we were their first guests and there were a few odds and ends not quite finished. They were quickly taken care of when we pointed them out. Beyond a few "teething issues", this was one of the best mini-vacations we've ever been on. The setting was stunning and the accommodation comfortable. The staff were universally helpful and went above and beyond to cater for our two year ... more

We enjoyed our stay very much, it was peaceful in the beautiful surroundings.
Lovely hideaway, keep it a secret
Ivan Brand, South Africa

The stone cottages are beautiful and the surrounding mountains and lake is just breath taking. Our stay was short and wet but still wonderful. Will stay longer next time as there was so much we did not get around to doing (kayaking, horse riding). Really a wonderful place for a couple or a whole family.
