Description

Morija Guest House is perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the historic village of Morija in the Lesotho Lowlands, 45 km from the capital Maseru. Built from hand-cut stone and thatched with local grass, it blends discreetly into the environment.

During the day there are commanding views of the surrounding forest and the village below, and the sunsets from the front deck and the views of the night sky are unforgettable. Below the main house are several small cottages to welcome more visitors. The accommodation offered is rustic but comfortable, and the rooms are tastefully decorated.

We can comfortably accommodate up to 24 people. Guests can choose to cater for themselves or to order cooked meals. We are proud of our homely atmosphere where families, NGOs, church groups, and professionals all feel at ease. We also organise special weekends, some to introduce visitors to the language and the culture of Lesotho, and others to teach French, with accommodation, meals and activities all being included.

Great Outdoors: Hiking and pony trekking trails are available through the forest, to dams, or to the top of a plateau. Visitors can sleep over in a mountain village and enjoy pristine nature and an authentic villagers' welcome.

Historical & Cultural: Morija was founded by French missionaries in 1833 and is a major historical and educational centre in Lesotho. It boasts the only museum and some of the best dinosaur footprints in the country, all within a short distance of the guest house.

We were pleasantly surprised by the location of the guest house which offered wonderful mountain views and the small 'village' of Morija below when you wake up in the morning. The hiking and horse riding are great activities and staff are warm and welcoming. A highly recommended location to stay in Lesotho.

Absolutely stunning. Very tranquil and relaxing. You really feel like you're away. An authentic Lesotho experience. Friendly and informative staff, nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable cottage with everything you could want to make it a true African experience. Will definitely be going back and who can forget our guardian and guide, Museli. Lovely dog.
