Montego Resort

Montego is located 3 km up the coast from Xai Xai Beach. There is a tar road right up to the coastline and a 3 km sand road that leads to Montego, which is accessible by a two-wheel drive vehicle. Accommodation is offered in five Four-sleeper units, one Six-sleeper unit, six two-sleeper Beach Huts, and three Double Rooms with either double or twin beds and private bathrooms.

Montego is a basic rustic holiday camp catering for backpacking and camping guests. There are no self-catering facilities and guests may bring their own, but only gas is allowed. Washing up facilities (wash basin and tap) are scattered between sites, huts and houses and are there for the use of all guests. We have a beautiful communal braai area for the use of all guests.

The restaurant offers a bar menu and the bar area and deck has a gorgeous view over the ocean - this will be operating in peak season only. Water is supplied by a borehole and hot water is obtained from a "donkey" geyser. Our electricity is from EDM.

Walk onto a long stretch of pristine beach in Mozambique; watch turtles, dolphins and whales while you enjoy safe water-based activities from a reef running parallel to the beach.

A local baker surprises guests daily with croissants and freshly baked Portuguese bread. Alternatively guests can visit the bakery or market in town. Locals pass the camp daily with fruit, prawns, oysters and crayfish. Fresh fish and ice are available at the resort and at the Praia, and guests can enjoy one of the local beers or drinks from our Pirate's Point Bar.

Our unique deck boasts a spectacular view of the ocean and launching area, while the restaurant's famous bar menu will bring you back time after time. In addition, the local markets will take your breath away with a variety of items ranging from lingerie to barb wire.
