From the beginning we were made welcome and the staff was very friendly. Our room was great and very comfortable. Dinner was out of this world. We certainly can recommend it!

The Lodge is nicer than the web site suggests. We stayed in a basic room which was clean and tidy and fine for a short stop over. However it is the restuarant and service that makes this place special. There is a set menu 4 course meal every night at 7.30 pm - which you can book as a resident. You are invited to a have a pre dinner drink in the lovely gardens at 7 pm with the other guests. This was really nice as everyone got a chance to meet up and discuss their holidays. A bit about this place
This attractive Edwardian hotel exudes friendliness, comfort and character.
It stands in the picturesque small town of Montagu, on the scenic Route 62, connecting the Cape Town area with the Garden Route.
Every guest is personally welcomed and taken to his en-suite room or suite, which are individually furnished with period pieces and provide every modern comfort and facility.
The garden, the surrounding apricot orchard and the pool area are popular with guests seeking relaxation.
The Lodge is renowned for creative cuisine, headed by Owner and Head-Chef Bernhard Hess, who has acquainted himself with typical South African produce and fuses them with the poetic licence befitting an international chef.
