Mbolompo Home Stay

Description

We offer a rural cultural experience in a traditional Xhosa homestead. If you are looking for luxury bungalows, we recommend an alternative venue. We can however offer you a mud hut nestled above a thick indigenous forest, overlooking the Mncwasa River mouth. Be humbled by the hospitality, collect your own water from the stream, go crazy trying to count the stars and wake up to the cry of the fish eagles.

We are located in a very environmentally sensitive area and do not cater for fishermen, quad bikers, motocross and 4x4 enthusiasts who insist on driving on the beaches and non-established roads. If you respect the local community and the environment, we would love to accommodate you. Part of the proceeds of your stay will go into a community account, so that more than just one family can benefit from visitors to the area.

We are also involved with various NGOs, community projects and environmental programs in the area and try to encourage responsible tourism.

Wonderful place
Sam Phillips, United Kingdom

We stayed for three nights in December 2011. I wanted my children to see a different, non-touristy side of SA. The Xhosa hut is clean and spacious with proper beds. The family is warm and friendly. We walked with our guide Thembile to Hole in the Wall. It is a beautiful walk and worth the effort (hard work in the sun for a seven year old). We all enjoyed our stay and it was definitely voted the most educational experience of our holiday.
