Description

Marracuene Lodge is located 35 km north of Maputo at the mouth of the Incomati River and only a short boat trip from Macaneta beaches.

We have three Family Chalets with two bedrooms and three One-bedroom Chalets. All of the chalets have en-suite bathrooms with showers. Water is pumped from a borehole and hot water is supplied from firewood boilers - the staff has to be advised what time the hot water is needed so that they keep the boilers warm for your showers. The chalets have glasses, plates and cutlery, and there are braai areas.

There is a small swimming pool and the river is not the ideal for swimming. A 10-minute boat trip can take the guests to Macaneta Beaches. There are two boats for hire and canoes for the guests to use in the river. The shop supplies basic groceries and some items that you may need during your stay including candles, matches, batteries, paraffin and charcoal. No fresh vegetables, yoghurt or milk is available unless by prior arrangement.

Marracuene Lodge is nothing like it is depicted on the website. We had hot water 1 night out of 4. The hot water was not a geyser but a 210 litre drum you had to make fire under, but the drum leaked so bad it wet the fire below. the chalets were thatched and the lights were 2 wires hanging from the roof with a bulb attached, a complete fire hazard. if we had not pre-paid we would have left before we even checked in.

R50 only per person camping with own tent. Clean ablution blocks with hot/cold showers and flushing toilets. Great shades and lots of nature surrounding. Quote is available for camping only. Meals will be settled directly with the on-site restaurant.
