Lodge Afriquè is situated in the village of St Lucia, on a glorious stretch of coastline fringed with golden beaches and caressed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

This region, in the northeast of KwaZulu Natal, is also known as the Elephant Coast - an astonishingly beautiful strip of land stretching some 220 km long and 70 km wide. Bound by mountains, the ocean, and bushveld, the area holds many of nature's miracles and secrets and provides an unspoilt ecotourism playground with an untamed spirit.

Lake St Lucia is a 65 km long estuary system with a total area of 330 km. iSimangaliso Wetland Park, previously known as the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, was declared a World Heritage Site on 1 December 1999. With a surface area of 32,800 hectares, the Park is considered the second largest in South Africa. The town of St Lucia has a vibrant holiday atmosphere with all the necessary ameneties, such as restaurants, curio shops, and several tour operators.

Lodge Afriquè is a newly built 4 Star bed and breakfast lodge offering eight free-standing en-suite thatched units and can cater up to 16 people at a time. The spacious and luxurious air-conditioned chalets, each with a private outdoor shower and patio, are situated in a tropical garden with sparkling pool.

All the chalets are connected to the Central Lodge by a raised wooden deck pathway. The Central Lodge includes the breakfast area, bar, braai and leisure area, and is equipped with satellite television and free Internet connection. Secure parking is also available.

The lodge is beautiful and very clean. Robyn was a very friendly and warm hostess. Wish there was a jungle gym for children. Enjoyed our stay there.

We have just enjoyed a very relaxing and comfortable Easter (2012) at Lodge Afrique. The rooms are well equipped and attractively decorated. The accommodation is very clean and well maintained. The manager, Robyn, is excellent and very attentive; she helped us with all our questions on the area. The breakfast is great with a good choice of food. We would definitely recommend Lodge Afrique.

Lodge Afrique is a wonderful place. Everybody there is nice and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable. This is the place to stay in Saint Lucia!

The chalet and cleanliness is 5 Star, as well as the staff and our host, Robyn. The breakfast was delicious, especially the unexpected treats of Xmas mince pies and yummy chocolate muffins. The security and parking was excellent. The only thing I would suggest, to make an improvement, is to install a bar fridge in the chalet due to the fact that it is a B&B only. It would be ideal to keep snacks, drinks and braai packs refrigerated.
