Built in 1908 as two Victorian-styled homesteads, Ballon Rouge today offers tastefully appointed guest accommodation in Standard and Superior rooms all perfectly situated in the heart of Franschhoek.

Franschhoek is ideally located for exploring the Western Cape with its breathtaking scenery and winelands, being only 45 minutes by car to Cape Town and its international airport.

Deluxe rooms are air-conditioned, with TV, private telephone, and underfloor heated bathrooms. Our penthouse suite offers exceptional panoramic views from a private deck.

A modern spa caters for complete relaxation and tranquillity, or enjoy a glass of Franschhoek’s award-winning wines in our cosy lounge. To provide utmost privacy and tranquillity, Le Ballon Rouge has decided to discontinue its restaurant service to the general public. Exclusively for our guests, light meals can be served by David and we can provide more elaborate dining for groups with 24 hours' prior notice.

Most enjoyable

This was a most enjoyable and excellent experience. The accommodation was first class - we had a suite and our daughter had a 'cottage' near the pool. Le Ballon Rouge is in excellent condition and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return. Franschhoek is a wonderful place to stay.
