About Kuname River Lodge

Kuname River Lodge is set on approximately 9000 hectares of pristine African bush, and is a haven for those in search of a unique bush experience. The premium five star safari facility, built on the banks of the Kuvjename River consists of five luxurious suites nestled in dense African bush overlooking the majestic Drakensberg escarpment. These air conditioned chalets all have en-suite bathrooms with outdoor showers and private outdoor baths. The perfect spot to soak in a candlelit bath beneath a canopy of stars and reflect on a day's experiences. The magnificent views from the wooden decks on each of the thatched suites are truly awe inspiring. The premier suite's outdoor bathrooms is situated in a secluded fairytale garden. The main lodge houses an elegant lounge dining area which lead onto an elevated wooden deck. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail or a cup of freshly brewed coffee while listening to the song of the African bush. A gorgeous rock pool offers the ideal venue to relax and invigorate in cool, sparkling waters. Kuname's gourmet chef lured from South Africa's top restaurants, ensures every meal is an unforgettable occasion. Here you can inhale the earthly scents of the African bush while you savour fine wines in the boma area or an elegant bush dinner. Our early morning and evening game drives are conducted by a highly qualified ranger in an open game viewing vehicle. With our 'Big Five', incredible bird life and centuries old trees, our professional guides, with their outstanding knowledge of the environment, ensure that our visitors become participants rather than just spectators. Walking safaris at Kuname are a chance to step into a world few get the opportunity to experience. It is a journey into nature, where participants learn about medicinal plants, the regions lesser known fauna and flora, as well as veld skills that have been passed on from generation to generation by the region's indigenous people. 'At Kuname we are driven by passion. Passion for the land, passion for the animals and plants, passion for service and passion for the community in which we live. Our guiding principle is responsible tourism. Our mission is not only to conserve the ecosystem and preserve endangered animals but, just as important, to conserve endangered space'.
