About Kookfontein Rondawels
Kookfontein Rondawels is the first of its kind in the Namaqua region and is a replica of the Nama huts but in a modern style. The walls are decorated with quartzite slabs and round stones from our area. The rondavels blend in with nature and they are cool inside during summer.
Kookfontein Rondawels offers self-catering chalets which have en-suite bathrooms with private shower rooms. Each chalet has a spacious kitchen and a TV to give our client as much comfort and privacy as possible.

We have stayed here several times over the years, and each time we see small improvements to the property. The young lady who was on reception on the 11th April 2015 was super friendly and charming. What a pleasure to get such service. The TV channels are very limited, and we would prefer security bars on at least one of the windows, because nowhere in the world do we like to feel vulnerable at night, even if locals say there is no crime. But for short stopover stays the rondawels are perfectly adequate and very clean. The only reason we rate it 2 stars is for the limited facilities.
Easy place to get to and as stop over before going into Namib. Accommodation basic but clean. People friendly. Certainly worth supporting the local community they certainly need the business therefore it is a must.
We, a young European couple, have never experienced something like this, in a negative sense unfortunately. We were the only people who stayed there that night, so it seemed, and were looking forward to a early night sleep so we could get up before dawn and continue our travels. After the reception had already been closed, a group of 6 middle aged local men checked in in just 1 room (??), with 4 female "visitors" during the night. I had been told that these visitors were prostitutes from the local town, which has been confirmed by the group later that night to me as well. as of 7.30pm, they... see more
On one occasion the place was incredibly loud because of a party that got out of hand. The place is mosquito infested. Why are there no mosquito nets?
Beuatiful house from the outside but inside everything is old and there's a bad smell in the house. It's very easy to find, good hot shower, very good WiFi. Cold inside, it was in the winter, and the heaters were broken (we get one small heater). Very helpful staff.
