Situated in the picturesque Eastern Cape and sharing two borders with the Groendal Wilderness Area, Kleinrivier Wilderness offers you the opportunity to escape the pressures of city life.

Kleinrivier offers campsites and chalets entwined with nature that provide a unique wilderness experience for nature lovers of all ages. Black Eagle Camp offers tents hidden between the trees with lovely views of the river. Stone Mountain Lodge has spectacular views over the Karoo and surrounding mountains, boasts a lovely swimming pool, and can be reached by a 4 x 4 or hiking trail only. Soetdorings Camping Site is situated around a man-made rock pool under the trees and has a covered lapa with a stove and fireplace. Dassiekrans Self-catering offer three private chalets, each with a private plunge pool. All accommodation has bathroom facilities.

Explore the remote Winterhoek mountains while experiencing the Karoo fauna and flora by simply walking in the opposite direction. The mountains are clad in this unique flora comprising literally thousands of different fynbos species. Five species of antelope occur naturally. Reptiles are king in this dry environment, most common are the 'Bloukop koggelmanders' which scuttle out of your way on the trails. The accommodation is ideal for birders; if you are not into exercise then just wait on your deck and the birds will come to you. For those with a little more energy there are a number of trails to explore and mountain pools to swim in.

The three chalets were built by nature lovers for nature lovers. Situated separately from each other, the thick riverine bush ensures privacy. The kitchens are equipped with a stove and cutlery and crockery each. Each chalet also has a small plunge pool which is fed by a natural spring, so be prepared to share with the frogs and dragonflies if you take a dip.

This lovely stone lodge offers five single beds and one double bed, but an eighth person can be accommodated. All cooking utensils are supplied, but guests need to bring their own bedding. Guests can cool down in the small pool and braai facilities are available. Access is via a steep moutain road which requires a 4 x 4 with low range and preferably diff lock. Alternatively guests can hike in via the Two Gorges hiking trail which takes four to five hours.
