The gracious Kingna Lodge has a fine reputation for its elegance, flower-filled garden and unrivalled finesse of its hospitality. It is no wonder that President Mandela and Mr FW de Klerk sojourned at the lodge during their historic visits to Montagu in 1995. A haven of peace and tranquility, Kingna Lodge offers a standard of hospitality and personal service that truly places it in a class of its own.

Accommodation is offered in seven rambling en-suite bedrooms, one of which is a honeymoon suite, and of course the Mandela Room. All are individually decorated to enhance the 100 year old Victorian building, and each room features its own patio, telephone, tea and coffee-making facilities, and port and muscadel decanters. One room also boasts an exceptional mountain view.

Features include a Grecian-style swimming pool and cool arbors with sun bathing loungers for those wishing to relax in the Montagu sunshine; this part of the country is renowned for its fabulous climate. In the evenings, guests can enjoy sundowners on the verandah from our fully licensed wine bar and facilities.

A good stay

The rooms, both bedrooms and dining rooms etc, were hugely impressive and made a stark contrast to the more modern lines of Cape Town. It was a shame we only stayed one night since the staff were very friendly and helpful with plenty of suggestions as to what the local attractions were - we were very sorry to miss out on the famous tractor rides and would like the opportunity to go back with more time in the future.

Kingna Lodge was a great stay. We enjoyed it very much -- the hosts were friendly, the location excellent, and the amenities generous. We would have been happy to stay longer!
