Description

Situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, just upstream from the Lower Zambezi National Park, is Kanyemba Lodge, an exclusive relaxing spot designed to board up to only fifteen people at a time.

The lodge offers expertly guided canoe and walking safaris, photographic safaris, and river cruises where you can enjoy the dramatic Zambezi sunset.

Activities also include angling for the intrepid Tiger Fish with Richard, our popular specialist Tiger fishing guide.

Although respectful of local tradition and deeply immersed in the surrounding nature, this small lodge was planned following highly innovative techniques, with the use of natural materials and paying careful attention to the smallest details in order to provide the comfort and well-being characteristic of an angle of paradise.

The central building enriched with a wonderful patio, lodges the dining room, the bar, a lounge and a library housing interesting books about nature and local traditions.

In the heat of the day you can choose to relax in the pool, swimming or just sipping a cocktail while watching the lazy sleep of the hippoes and regular visits byt he elephants in the river.

The lodge provides daily laundry service on request, e-mail and satellite telephone and is constantly radio-connected with its office in Lusaka.

The five chalets and the romantic honeymoon suite forming the lodge, are discreetely located on the river bank under the shadow of wild mangoes and huge trees.

Built of natural materials, they blend in perfectly with the surroundings, providing extreme comfort in the warmer months and a very high level of privacy throughout your stay.

Each chalet has it's own private verandah overlooking the Zambezi River, where early morning teas and espresso coffees or cuppacinos are delivered at the time of your specified wake up call.

Each chalet has been beautifully decorated using local art, and the stunning ensuite bathrooms include state-of-the-art fittings and bright mirror lighting. Chalets also include a walk in robe with shelving, hanging rails, and room for storage.

Kenyamba Lodge's award winnning chef, Edson, mingles a traditional Italian Cuisine with the freshest and most typical local ingredients.

The day starts with a sumptuous buffet breakfast served in the patio overlooking the breathtaking African dawn.

When spending the day at the lodge, you will be served lunch on the terrace while in the evening a three course dinner will be arranged around a nice warm fire under the African stars.

Canoe Safari:
Requiring an early start canoeing is possibly the most rewarding activity on the river. Trained guides ferry guests to the top of Kanyemba Island.

After a comprehensive safety talk our canoes follow small channels that weave for 10 kilometres to a prearranged pickup area. As the sun rises and the animals wake there is nothing more magical than drifting silently through one of natures marvels.

Canoe safaris are the perfect way to enjoy the tranquillity of the river while experiencing the Zambezi's unique emotional power.

Canoes provide a totally different approach to Zambian fauna and you will be able to silently get close to the animals drinking along the river or quietly soaking in the shallow waters.

Walking Safari:
Walking Safaris are an experience of its own. Invented in Zambia, and conducted by knowledgeable and qualified guides, this activity allows its participants to experience the African bush on its own terms in all safety.

With all your senses enhanced, you will be following your guide on animal-worn trails to learn and discover the more intricate and interesting signs of the wild.

Tracks, spoor, plant and trees, their medicinal properties as well as possible encounters with large mammals and the extensive birdilfe, will guarantee participants an adventure of a lifetime.

Photographic Safari:
Expert guides will be at your disposal to take you on daytime photographic safaris or night excursions to observe animals while feeding, drinking or hunting.

Zambezi sunrises provide an ideal photographic setting. Enjoy Italian style coffee while witnessing the breathtaking beauty of soft sunlight play over the glassy Zambezi river. The cool fresh air and rising mist enhance the early morning sounds of nature.

Angling:
Anglers may enjoy wonderful opportunities as in this area the Zambezi widens and creates pools of still water, natural habitat for tiger fish, bream, vundu, knupi and plenty of other species of tropical fish.

Specialist Tiger Fishing guides, Sun shades, cushioned seating, equipment tried and tested and expert guides make fishing with Kanyemba lodge exciting, successful and comfortable.
