Kambrokind Guest House

In Sutherland, which is the coldest place in South Africa, you get the warmest welcome by your hosts, Rita and Jurgens Wagener, at their 4 Star guest house called Kambrokind.

The guest house consists of eight en-suite Rooms. Each Room has an oil heater, electric blankets, heaters in the bathroom, linen, towels and toiletries. They are furnished in traditional country style and there is a living room with DStv, a cosy fireplace and the Universe Room with many books and magazines about astronomy. The Tolhuis is an outside, fully sheltered braai complete with a TV with DStv access and a fully equipped kitchen area for guests’ use. Safe parking is available with five carports.

For light meals, guests can walk over to the nearby coffee shop - Halley Sê Kom Eet. Dinner is always by candlelight at 19h00 and we are licensed to sell wine and beer. Internet café facilities are available.

Visit the famous South African Large Telescope – SALT - or the first sheep cheese farm in South Afica, marketing under the name Terranova. Hike up Salpeterkop which is the last working volcano south of the equator in Africa, or do a scenic route towards the Ouberg Pass on the escarpment and see how the road winds down some 1000 m below.
