Jo’s Guest House in Calvinia consists of a number of comfortable accommodation units. The establishment is graded as 2 Star, but staff pride themselves on rendering 5 Star service.

Hantamkraal Restaurant is a new addition to the business and is already very popular. This unique 60-seater restaurant with open fire prides itself on its traditional cooking, which includes the best tripe and bobotie in Namakwaland, lamb pie baked in tin cups and delicious baked puddings. Hantamkraal also offers a catering and full event management service for functions with up to 2000 guests.

Jo’s Guest House and Hantamkraal Restaurant is close to the scenic Akkerendam Nature Reserve and is within walking distance of most of Calvinia’s tourist attractions.

Owner Jo Fritz puts in tremendous effort to ensure that guests’ needs are taken care of and the establishment was voted a finalist in the Northern Cape Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in 2009 and 2010.

I was very diassapointed. We read about this nice place and good food, but when we got there they said they don't now if the restaurant would be open..so we decided to do our own thing. There was nothing wrong with the place we stayed in, but for the price we paid - it was highly overpaid. We stayed at different places this holiday, and paid far less for more value at other places. Overpriced definitely.
