Four Bungalows designed in the African rondavel style with artistically constructed lofty thatched roofs, provide absolute privacy in exquisite and harmonious surroundings. Reclining on the veranda and enjoying the view over the river with its water flowing gently around rocks and islands, is sheer magic. The Cottage, lovingly and tastefully furnished, has a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living and dining room, one bedroom with double bed and one bedroom with three single beds, accommodating five people. It is built amongst natural rocks and indigenous trees. In the evenings one can sometimes watch the bush babies jumping from tree to tree, Jackal-berry Farm & Lodge, tucked away from Hazyview on the banks of the Sabie River, a haven of peace and natural beauty awaits its Guests. This charm, combined with tranquility and luxury, offers the Guests a truly special stay. Go for a stroll along the river, through the orchards or in the beautiful landscaped gardens with their splendid trees and plants, where you will find a real birds' paradise. Listening to the wind rustling in the trees, the sounds of animals - or even watching the magnificent Hippos leaving their river sanctuary to spend their hours of darkness looking for grazing - gives you the feeling of being at one with nature. We were made to feel very welcome during our stay. The setting is beautiful and very peaceful. The food was great and good value for money. The road to the farm was not for the faint-hearted! The cottage was simple but had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Really great experience. Hans, and entertaining. Food was absolutely awesome. Hans is a great chef. Wine choice/recommendation was excellent. If time permitted we would have stayed longer. Will definitely recommend your lodge to others and hope to come and stay again some time.

First trip out to this area and we were all very impressed with what we found at the end of the dirt track road. We cant wait to go back and experience this level of hospitality and African authenticity. The bungalows were immaculate and the outlook from them within the grounds was truly relaxing. Fabulous location for touring the Blyde river Canyon the following day, travelling on the great route suggested by Hans himself - most appreciated. Only regret was not booking for a secon ... more
