Twenty minutes' easy drive from downtown Cape Town, among palms, wild olives, lemon trees and proteas, The Hout Bay Hideaway Cape Town is a luxury retreat overlooking ocean, mountains, historic fishing harbour and beach.

Private, spacious, carpeted apartments, with extra-large beds and cosy armchairs, many genuine antiques and original oil paintings, snug in winter with open fires and under floor heating. Mountain and sea views through tall, wooden-framed bay windows. Kitchenette with sink, toaster, microwave oven, fridge, cafeteria, cutlery, crockery, electric kettle, iron board and steam iron.

Each apartment has access to the rocks and grottoes of the wild, climbing garden, the vine-shaded verandah, the barbecue area, saltwater swimming pool, and even a secluded, open-air bathtub placed to catch full sunshine (yes, hot & cold water).

At The Houtbay Hideaway guests are offered:

The Garden Apartment, sleeps 2/3, A one bedroomed apartment with king sized bed, crisp cotton percal sheets, fluffy dressing gowns, full en suite bathroom with tub and separate double cabin multi jet shower. The large sitting room easily accommodates a single bed or cot. It is furnished with cosy armchairs, art deco, Victorian antiques and original art work. There is a fireplace, wi-fi, satalite tv, cd player, dvd player and kitchenette. The room is carpeted throughout and has underfloor heating for those chilly evenings. French doors open onto a private patio and garden area. Acess to the main garden and pool is through a lockable gate. Bed configuration A choice of king sized double or twin beds. An extra single bed or cot is available if required. Both have direct access to the sundecks and the natural, saltwater pool in the large, wild, indigenous garden.

Enjoyable and convenient stay

Martin and Susan were wonderful hosts. As we were leaving very early in the mornings for fishing trips, they kindly accommodated us by ensuring there was breakfast for us the night before. We were given keys and gate remotes and felt free to come and go as we pleased. Many thanks for a lovely time. P.S. Zak did manage to spear a 72kg yellow fin tuna on the last day in 14 degree waters.

We had a wonderful time at the Hideaway. The gardens surrounding the house were peaceful and relaxing and just what we were looking forward too, and breakfast on the terrace was the highlight of the morning.

I had the pleasure of staying at Hout Bay Hideaway for a few rainy days in August. Not only was the house all the web description claimed but Martin and Sue were wonderful hosts - breakfast and the morning papers delivered to my door every morning: a hot water bottle in bed at night. I will definitely go back and have recommended to my friends.
