House 29 Doornkop Fish and Wildlife Reserve

Description

House 29 is a fully self-catering house located in the Doornkop Fish and Wildlife Reserve. The property is very secure and relaxing with the majestic natural beauty of dams, rivers and mountains surrounding the reserve.

The house offers accommodation in four bedrooms with beds for eight people; it can sleep up to 12 people if you bring in the four extra mattresses. Comfortably furnished, the lounge also has a stone fireplace to warm the open-plan flow of the second level in winter. The kitchen, on the same level, is fully equipped with a fridge, an oven and all cooking utensils. This area opens onto a balcony with patio furniture where evening meals or breakfast can be enjoyed along with the views. The patio below the balcony serves as a cool place to relax in summer. Next to the house there is a braai area in the lapa. There is a table but bring your own outdoor chairs. The house overlooks five interlocking dams only 100 m away.

At the clubhouse there is a gym, a games room and hot and cold swimming pools with wooden loungers. Drinks can be bought as you lie on the loungers or as you sit under the cool thatch and enjoy the views. Near the clubhouse you will find the stables and the tennis courts.

This reserve is in the mountains between Carolina and Machadodorp and boasts hiking trails, horse riding, wildlife trails, 4x4 trails and historical ruins. There are also guided quad trails close by that can be booked at reception. Feel free to bring along your mountain bike, binoculars, cameras and fishing rods. There are 10 dams and two rivers with trout, bass, yellow fish and kurpers on the property and a wide range of birds and interesting wildlife including brown hyenas, side striped jackals, 'aardwolf' and porcupines can also be seen. Wildlife like zebra, warthog and ostrich are often seen wandering between the widely spaced houses, further adding to the beautiful and relaxing atmosphere.
