Description

Kingdom of the Zulu and the beautiful untamed Elephant Coast in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Hluhluwe Hotel & Safaris is renowned for its African ambiance, excellent cuisine and personal touch provided by friendly staff and owners Patrick and Jill Eliot who live by their motto 'Hospitality is our Game'.

Hluhluwe hotel has 67 spacious fully air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms that each have a television, telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. Rooms comprise of 41 spacious double rooms with two double beds in each room, 14 single rooms with one double bed and 12 twin rooms with two single beds. A daily laundry service is available.

The restaurant area and pubs are fully air-conditioned with a big TV screen in the Rhino Bar. The Hotel offers excellent cuisine together with a wine list offering some of South Africa's most interesting wines to compliment the atmosphere of the cultural charm of the restaurant.

The infamous Rhino Bar inside the hotel was a famous watering hole in the seventies and a bullet hole remains as proof of the untamed spirit of the early years.

The upgrade to the overall establishment is first class. A couple of minor negatives. No place to hang our towels in the bathroom (cannot remember our room number) and the curio shop seems to cater more for foreigners than locals. Various positives - excellent and friendly staff, great food and very flexible regarding add-ons in the package. We wanted to watch the SA rugby on Saturday afternoon, so the Hotel agreed to refund us the Hluhluwe entry fees for a morning visit in our own veh ... more
