Description

“Where the Leopard sleeps” – so named as this is where one of the 3 Leopard that roam the reserve was first sighted.  However, with the cottage being built and subsequently occupied, this unobtrusive creature of the night has moved on to quieter territory, although seen occasionally nearby.

 

Hlala-Ingwe Cottage is situated in the heart of the Pongola Game Reserve (south), bordering on the famous Jozini Lake.  Guests have the best of both worlds … the reserve offering splendid viewing of a large variety of game, including the often unseen Nyala and Mountain Reedbuck indigenous to the area;  Black and White Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo, while the lake offers opportunity for long lazy afternoons on a boat cruise, or pursuing that Tigerfish trophy!

 

Built in the similar appealing style as the lodge – thatch and stone, with large cottage-pane windows.  The cottage has 2 bedrooms sleeping 2 each, both en-suite with a shower in one en-suite and a bath in the other.  The high –pitched thatch roof allows for a large loft area above the bedrooms that has been carpeted, and can comfortably sleep 4 or 5 additional persons.   There is a separate toilet with basin between the 2 bedrooms.



The entire cottage is air-conditioned with a central cooling system.   The spacious open-plan kitchen and comfortable lounge area are separated only by a breakfast nook.  There is a fridge, microwave and 4 plate stove in the kitchen, as well as other appliances such as kettle, toaster etc.  The kitchen is equipped with cutlery and crockery for 8 guests.

 

This area leads out onto a large undercover veranda furnished with a patio suite, and extends onto the boma-style braai area surrounded by Leadwood timber, shaded by an enormous Tamboti tree. The entire area is paved.  On each side of the cottage is a large grassed area, and a jungle-gym for children.

 

The cottage is privately situated within walking distance from the lodge, and driving distance from the lake. Guests are permitted to self-drive to the lake, and are welcome to bring their own boats and fish at their  leisure. Firewood supplied.  Serviced daily.  Self-catering.
