Ruth at Heronmoor is the consumate host.
This must be the finest value for money holiday we have ever taken. For those who only travel first class, do not let the relative low price put you off. This place is a gem and definitely worth many return visits.
Sitting on the verandah at Heronmoor looking out at the views will do more for your soul and stress levels than any big city shrink.
This place could become addictive.

Description
Nestled in a tranquil valley in the Kamberg region of KwaZulu Natal, and enjoying stunning views of the Giants Castle and the Drakensberg mountains. Heronmoor cottage is the perfect place to take a break.
Our luxury self catering cottage makes a wonderful base, whether you want to relax and enjoy the magnificent mountain views, make the most of outdoor activities or explore the Midlands Meander.
Heronmoor farm is just over two hours from Durban and four and a half hours from Johannesburg.
The cottage sleeps 3 adults and has a spacious lounge with Jet master fireplace, fully equipped kitchenette and dining nook, with main bedroom en suite. The large covered patio is equipped with Hangaboutz Hammocks and a Weber braai so you can make the most of the best berg views for miles around. A selection of books and videos are available for those rainy days. Prepared home meals, wine and charcoal are available by arrangement. The property also boasts a large stocked trout dam. All linen is supplied, and an extra person, or child, can be accomodated on camping mattresses.
In addition to enjoying the peace and tranquility on the farm, there are many options for those with a more active bent.
Close by are 3 entrances into the Ukahlamba Drakensberg Park with rock art viewing available at Kamberg and Giants Castle. Your hosts have a wide knowledge of the berg and can advise on selected trails. Overnight excursions camping in caves and guided day trails with full catering are available on request.
A variety of day excursions are possible ranging from trips to Sani Pass, Weenen Game Reserve, Battlefields and the Midlands Meander. There are some excellent restaurants and don't forget the Breweries at Nottingham Road. For those in need of a little pampering, there are a number of spas in the area with a range of health and beauty treatments. We will be happy to supply you with full information.
The area is also renowned for fishing, its bird life and wild flowers. Horse riding and golf are available nearby and the quiet roads are ideal for cycling or mountain biking.
