Haus Bergfrieden offers spacious accommodation with a tranquil atmosphere, set in a beautiful garden. Our Self-catering units feature a breakfast/dining room with TV. Guests from all over the world are welcomed in Haus Bergfrieden, which is managed by a German-speaking owner. The whole unit can be used for groups of eight people at a special price,but singles are also welcome! Each room in Haus Bergfrieden is well-appointed and spacious, with a writing desk and chair. All rooms have French Doors leading into the lovely garden. A private patio is situated in front of each room, with garden furniture, making this the ideal spot for lounging in the sun while reading the Sunday newspaper. A lovely fireplace welcomes guests into the communal living room on cold winter nights. A TV is available in the lounge, but guests often prefer to just sit and chat with new-found friends. Haus Bergfrieden is ideal for single people or individuals who want to get away from it all for a while. This is a very welcoming environment, with a hostess that will make you feel at home, while guarding your privacy. And, oh yes, the bathrooms are very pretty, making a soak by candle-light and with aromatherapy oils just the thing to come back home to after a day of bird watching, cycling, hiking and paragliding.
General Information: Wakkerstroom is well known for its Wetlands and Grasslands Reserves with an abundance of indigenous birdlife and wild flowers. It is situated in the south western corner of Mpumalanga Province and is surrounded by beautiful mountainous countryside. The climate is mild in summer with occasional snowfalls in winter. It is only a two-and-a-half to three hours drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, and is a popular thoroughfare to the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, the Itala Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal (+- 2hrs drive away) and Swaziland. It is also on the route between Bloemfontein and Nelspruit, making it an ideal stop-over for tourists travelling from the Cape to the Kruger National Park. Popular activities in the area include bird-watching, hiking, mountain bike trails, Hang- or Paragliding, 4 x 4 trails and trout fishing.

We have one Self-catering Unit which consists of an en suite bedroom,an equipped kitchen with stove,oven,fridge,microwave toaster,crockery and cutlery; a living/dining room with T.V.All rooms may be used for self-catering, if groups are prepared to share the same well-appointed kitchen. Luxury self-catering is available on request for groups booking all four rooms .A discount is offered if all four rooms are used at the same time. Otherwise the Unit is separate and the other rooms can be booked separately without having the use of the kitchen.
