Franverleigh Lodge

Description

In the heart of South Africa's beautiful Garden Route you will find Franverleigh Lodge. Set on one hundred acres of indigenous forest at the foothills of the majestic Outeniqua Mountains.

Whether it's fishing, canoeing, bird watching, hiking, mountain biking, swimming or sitting on the deck watching the sunset, there is something for everyone in this secluded retreat. South Africa's finest beaches are easily accessible, as is the Knysna Forest, where you might even see one of the wild elephants still living there.
Wake to magnificent mountain views from your exclusive deck in one of our luxury two-bedroom chalets.
Thank you for viewing our website. We look forward to welcoming you to our corner of paradise.
Franverleigh is a low-density resort with two identical log chalets set in their own secluded garden. We have named them after our resident birds - Hoopoe and Lourie.
We easily qualified for 3 star rating from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa.
The chalets are stylishly appointed for your self-catering holiday. Each has 2 bedrooms, both en-suite. Further guests are accommodated on a double sleeper couch. One of the bedrooms has a queen size double bed and the other has two single beds. All linen is provided except towels for swimming.
The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with stove, microwave and fridge/freezer and all cooking utensils. There is crockery and cutlery for 6 people. Outside there is a braai. The kitchen, dining and living areas lead to a partly covered deck with spectacular views over the Franverleigh forest to the Outeniqua Mountains.
The television has a Multichoice decoder set only to SABC, but please note that guests may bring their own smart card to access DSTV.
We have a selection of forest paths in our forest where you might catch a glimpse of bushbuck, bush pig, porcupine or clawless otter. There are too many birds to list but our resident Knysna Louries will accompany you on your way. For the energetic there is a path down to the Karatara River where there is a sandy beach and inviting natural swimming pool.
We have a large swimming pool for your enjoyment
200 meters from the chalets there is a small dam with bass (catch and release). A canoe is also available for your enjoyment.
Activities in the area

Perfect

A little slice of heaven. Wish we could have stayed longer and not just stopped overnight. Friendly host, dogs that seemed to be impossible to annoy by our toddlers. We'll be back soon - I hope!
Very quiet.

Very good reception. A little bit far from touristy points and shops.

I enjoyed it very much. The peace away from the hustle and bustle from the city, is a joy to behold.

It was wonderful waking up to birdsong. Everything feels very rustic and comfortable, perfect for people wanting to get away from it all.
