Fort D' Acre Reserve is an exclusive private game park of 1200 ha's in extent situated at the mouth of the Great Fish River, 25 km from Port Alfred. It's unique positioning, with sweeping views of bush and coastline, invites the visitor to explore contrasting habitats of grassland bushveld, wild seaside and riverine forest. Game drives and horse back safaris into the reserve offer opportunities to view 25 different species of game including Cape Buffalo and Giraffe.
Our stylish thatched safari lodge is elegantly furnished capturing the spirit of Africa. The en-suite bedrooms all have sweeping bush and ocean views. Relax in the beautiful and peaceful indigenous garden with huge Coral trees. The indoor dining area, with roaring fires offers a cosy alternative in the evenings. In the luxurious comfort of Fort D' Acre Reserve safari lodge you can relax and enjoy the company of bushveld game and ocean going whale and dolphins.
The climate is subtropical, with winter average day temperatures reaching 21 degrees Celsius and the average summer day temperatures reaching 28 degrees Celsius. In summer it can reach the middle 30’s quite often. The sea temperature varies between 16 and 24 degrees Celsius. In summer the wind regularly swings between south west and south east. In summer shorts and t-shirts are the order of the day and in winter jeans and jerseys are needed. There is no malaria in the Eastern Cape and medical assistance is just a phone call away. Make sure you have medical insurance as well as any medication you may need.
Down on the beach is a new lapa from where whales can be watched, sundowners drunk and romantic picnics consumed. Guided horse rides through the reserve and onto the beach now available. Spa treatments in the comfort of the lodge can be arranged.
