Forodhani House

Forodhani House is situated right on Shella beach in Lamu Archipelago, off the east coast of Kenya.

In authentic Swahili style, Forodhani House is a large, whitewashed building in a lovely location that is constantly lulled by the lapping waves, a cool sea breeze, and has views of the boats entering and leaving the archipelago.

The house offers guests five bedrooms. All the rooms are spacious and airy. Four of the double rooms are furnished with handcrafted double or twin beds covered by mosquito nets with a private bathroom. The fifth bedroom is furnished with single beds and also have private bathrooms. All five rooms have shaded terraces and overlook the sea. On the ground floor guests will find a fully equipped kitchen, a sophisticated dining terrace and a large lounge area next to the pool. Partly shaded by a beautiful acacia tree, the pool stretches between the garden and the ocean. The beach is situated a few steps away.

The clock of the old town of Lamu still shows the 17th century and there are no cars. Guests will enjoy the charm of getting lost in the maze of alleyways in the village, where the welcoming friendliness of the locals will guide you where you wish. Guests can relive Swahili history, the architecture, religion and language. Shella beach offers activities like sailing, fishing, windsurfing, waterskiing, snorkeling, diving, dolphin- and whale watching.
