Description
Elandsheuwel Guest Farm is situated approximately 45 km from the Karoo town of Steytlerville, on the main road to Willowmore. It is a working Angora goat and Merino sheep farm. Elandsheuwel consists of 8000 hectares of typical Karoo bushveld. This is fairly open and gently rolling countryside which makes for easy strolling.
We offer a variety of accommodation options such as bed and breakfast at the farmstead, self-catering in a separate and restored homestead and camping deep in a ravine in the mountains.
The northern part of the farm however, lies in the Groot River Mountain Range and offers stiffer hikes, rock climbing and beautiful views. Guests can relax in the garden, swim in the pool and enjoy the breathtaking views across the valley towards the Baviaanskloof Mountain Range. For those who prefer, a breakfast or brunch can be supplied at the main homestead. A fully catered option is also available.
The point of a farm stay is to get away from the stresses and strains of urban life and do some of the things you cannot do in town. With grassy plains, rugged mountains and everything in between there are walks to suit all tastes and degrees of fitness. The wonderful scenery and sweeping vistas will be your reward. Although not a dedicated game farm, a variety of game can be seen.
Birders may be rewarded with a sight of the Kori Bustard, the largest of flying birds, which is particularly found in the area. There are tracks all over the farm suitable for 4x4, quad bikes or mountain bikes.

Located in a kloof in the Groot River Mountains, lies the campsite utterly remote from the sights and sounds of civilization. This site is perfect for those who really want to get away and relax in nature. Explore the kloofs, hike over the mountains, climb rock faces, seek out the wildlife or simply sit in the shade and drink in the peace and quiet. Altogether there are three campsites set in a heavily wooded ravine with plenty of space and shade for summer days. Each of the sites has a stone-built braai place as well as a power point, water and light. An ablution block with toilet, shower, hand basin and sink services the sites. Braai wood is also available. A short walk down the ravine brings one to an interesting cliff face with a small natural spring at its foot. We only book one party at a time in our campsite, regardless of numbers.

Self-catering is offered in a rustic, restored farm cottage situated in a gently rolling veld close to the mountains and the main farmstead. The cottage consists of three comfortable bedrooms. There is a large living and dining area complete with a fully equipped open-plan kitchen. Light is provided by candles and paraffin lamps, creating a cosy atmosphere. There is an indoor braai for cold winter evenings and an outdoor braai as well. All crockery and other household items are provided.
