Driving from Cape Town (Kaapstad) through small fishing and crayfish towns (Paternoster, Vredenburg, Velddrif, Laaiplek) just before Lamberts Bay (Lambertsbaai), a rather straight, flat, open road, healthy nature, a "surprise" one finds when you enter the other part of the west coast, enter Elandsbaai (Elandsbay, Elands Bay).
Elandsbay Backpackers is unique in his concept where people can meet in a nice peaceful environment between the Verlorenvlei en the mountains.
Still undiscovered and in its own natural habitat, holidaymakers, nature lovers, hikers and surfers who look for something different and unpretentious, Elandsbaai adds a completely fresh, natural way of relaxation, easy and uncomplicated.



The quaint little town situates itself between the Atlantic Ocean and the Baviaans mountains, a rather awesome sight. One can experience the beauty of the Verlorenvlei (lake) flowing into Elandsbaai from Redelinghuys, that is so tranquil, peaceful, as if time stood still. Old-fashioned, fairy-like, but very few houses around the vlei, with the most unique looking birds, dancing on the water, occasionally putting on a show, a lovely surfer's paradise beach, clean and crisp air, interesting mountains to walk, explore. Including the "African Footprints" caves, scenic views portraying the vast "openness" of land that boasts breathtakingly exquisite flowers in winter, with a fishing / crayfish community who live below pristine white sand dunes which also has some incredible picnic spots and a caravan park to offer and whale-watching from June to November is also on the agenda.
From December to June Elandsbay Backpackers offers you an unforgettable Crayfish meal. You go in the morning on see with a Cray fisher and come home with your own caught Crayfish.



In the backpackers the Crayfish will be prepared for you on the braai or nice cooked in a potteken. In a peaceful environment you will have the unforgettable mail. The cost is R250 the person.
Each room has his own bad room with shower basin and toilet.

Terraces in the front and back where you can have meals.
Living room with Satellite TV, DVD and comfortable sofa's to lounge around.
The Garden
Possibility for braai/BBQ in the garden. Benches and hammocks for chilling in the garden. (Available from Jul!)
From the garden you can take a walk to the mountain near the house and have a beautiful view of the Verlorenvlei and watch the birds.
