Easby Historic House B&B

Description

Easby Historic House is situated in the tranquil surroundings of the Natal Midlands with a magnificent view of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains and is, in all respects, a balm to the troubled soul. Easby House is more than a 100 years old and was built before the Anglo Boer War. It was occupied by Boer Commandos and used both as quarters and presumably as ammunition stash, during that same war in 1900.

Situated in the heart of the Drakensberg, it offers many scenic routes along which the avid historian can truly go back in time. The house itself is built on a piece of land 300 acres in size and offers bird watching, nature trails, a pool, and an underground bar with pool table and darts. Horse riding can also be arranged.

Your hosts, Chris and Grietjie, are always available to keep you company with their entertaining anecdotes about the history of Easby and surrounding area. It is truly a magnificent place to visit and it exudes an aura of serenity and makes all feel welcome. So, whether this is your first visit to the Drakensberg, and you need a central place from which to explore the rest of the Berg, or just a stop-over en route to Durban or Johannesburg, Easby can accommodate you in all respects. A single visit is all it takes to fall in love with this wonderful slice of the past. It is an extremely convenient holiday destination for those who want to get away for a bit of peace and quiet.

Easby Historic House B&B offers ten 3 Star graded en-suite guest rooms and a luxury self-catering stone cottage. Large verandahs with stunning views complete the description of this 19th century homestead. Eight of the nine en-suite guest rooms inside the house have their own private entrances, and the four luxury rooms are decorated with antique furniture. The other private outside room, for those who prefer a quiet stay, offers its own verandah and beautiful view. The beautiful luxury stone-built self-catering cottage features a double shower, four poster bed, lounge with magnificent views, and a private built-in barbecue.

A historic stone chapel, built in 1981, is situated just 800 metres from the house and is a very popular wedding venue. The owners of Easby Historic House can do all the catering and arrangements for these momentous occasions, should you require it.

Our visit was really extremely nice! Our host and hostess were the most beautiful, cordial people, not to mention the nice food. We will definitely come visit you again and take part in the tour! Ons kuiertjie was regtig verskriklik lekker! Ons gasheer en gasvrou is die pragtigste gul mense en dan praat ons nie eers van die heerlike kos nie! Ons gaan defnitief weer by julle kom kuier en dan die toer doen!
