Description

In the south-western core of the Vredefort Dome, about 20 km from Parys and 14 km from Vredefort, you will find the farm Deelfontein nestled between the high concentric ridges of South Africa’s youngest World Heritage Site.

Guests can choose between two farm houses or the bush camp. Bed linen and towels are provided for the farm houses. The bedrooms are furnished with single beds and the kitchens are fully equipped with four-plate stoves, microwave ovens, fridges and freezers and tea and coffee facilities.

The Bush Camp consists of three huts with five rooms in total, each hut furnished with bunk beds. Two bathrooms with basins and showers are attached to two of the huts, with hot water from donkeys. A separate building houses the toilets and urinals which is situated close to all the huts.

The lapa is fully equipped for self-catering and has a braai area with a grill, a gas stove and oven and a gas fridge with a small freezer. Cutlery, crockery and pots are also provided. Bed linen, toiletpaper, matches and firewood are not provided but can be supplied at an extra charge of R30 per person. Safe parking is available under trees at all units.

Guests can enjoy various activities like swimming, hiking, mountain biking, birdwatching and stargazing excursions. Fishing and horse riding can be done at the establishments nearby.

Seminar facilities in several spacious rooms as well as function facilities, including a large separate braai area, are available for use and the observatory may be booked for stargazing.

The near-pristine environment and the interesting geology of this oldest and largest meteorite impact site, as well as numerous remains of the stone age and iron age inhabitants, the Boer War, and the early gold mining activities, make the Dome a prime tourist destination and Deelftontein the perfect place to book your accommodation.
