De Oude Meul Guest House

No air-con, no sat-tv or wi-fi even though we booked and paid for it. Unhelpful staff. The place was not clean, the door could not lock properly. It was totally unacceptable, leaving us no choice but to find alternative accommodation. Very disappointed as this was a opportunistic effort to rip-off guests booking on-line. STAY AWAY!!

De Oude Meul is a small hidden B&B conveniently located above an antique shop in the centre of Stellenbosch, on the corner of Mill St and Dorp St. I booked a Budget Twin Room as a single, which was small, even for one, but had a lovely shared balcony with view of the corner of Mill St and Dorp St. Parking is available a few blocks away in Dorp St.

Stairs are very steep, so if you have a problem knee/hip, this is not for you.

A nice place in the heart of Stellenbosch, ideal for exploring the historic town centre.

This was good simple accommodation. Nothing fancy, clean and practical. Very centrally located, with many good restaurants, shops and bars right on the door step. My room was at the back of building with a large terrace, and was very quiet ; however my friend had a room on the street, which was quite noisy with traffic and deliveries to the shops opposite. The manager was friendly and helpful. Internet access was also available, which I had not come across at other guest houses I had stayed at. The breakfast was functional, and you had to eat in your own room, rather than in a dining room or kitchen.
