In the heart of the Free State, 35km south of Bloemfontein on the N1 lies a beautifully restored old farmhouse, De Oude Kraal Country Estate. Adorned with family heirlooms and collectables, the homestead offers old world charm, whilst Gerhard's exclusive bar and wine cellar provides a wide variety to satisfy all discerning guests. Marie's renowned Free State cuisine offers a gourmet dinner by candlelight, a hearty farm breakfast and is a culinary feast in all aspects. A complimentary afternoon tea with cakes awaits you upon check-in. Lounge in the sun, read a book from our in-house library and experience the peaceful park-like gardens under the bluegum trees. Explore the farm by horseback, footpaths, sundown tractor ride or enjoy one of our many other outdoor activities. Meaning " I Dream" in Sotho, our 4 star garden rooms are all individually themed and decorated by Marie. Each boast a private patio, open fireplace, en-suite bathroom, heater, television and tea and coffee facilities. Some have under floor heating and spa bath as an added luxury. After a leisurely meal snuggle up under fluffy goose down duvet and mohair blanket. For the romantically inclined there are a variety of choices , each unique with some welcome extras. De Oude Kraal is Gerhard and Marie's passion and that is truly reflected in their attention to detail, that ensures not just a stop over, but a wonderful part of your travels.
