Description

This cosy guest house is situated on a working ostrich and alfalfa farm with 6000 ostriches on extensive alfalfa fields. There are spectacular views of the Olifants River Valley and the Swartberg Mountains. This charming Victorian homestead, dating back to 1910, together with its tranquil surroundings, fine antique furniture, gleaming woodwork and spaciousness, is reminiscent of yesteryear.

The luxurious self-catering cottages are well equipped with modern amenities and private entrances. There are well-maintained gardens with a mountain view, air-conditioning, bar fridges, TVs, tea and coffee-making facilities, microwave ovens, hotplates and fireplaces, as well as braai facilities with braai equipment.

Activities on the farm include birdwatching, mountain biking and walks in absolute safety and harmony. Daily environmental and farm tours to watch ostrich chicks hatching are also available and are very popular.

We are located along the world-famous R62 from Cape Town to Mossel Bay where it enters the Garden Route on the N2. It is four hours from Cape Town, a 10-minute drive from Oudtshoorn and only two hours from Knysna. De Denne is very central to all the tourist attractions in the area.

We offer semi self-catering barbecue packs at R75 to R95 per pack which will be delivered to your cottage where you can enjoy spectacular views with a table set and fire made. Local wine is also available on request and a pricelist will be provided. We also offer ostrich or beef fillet with vegetables for R95 per person, one lamb kebab and one lamb chop with vegetables for R85 per person, two marinated chicken thighs with vegetables for R85 per person and vegetarian kebabs with vegetables for R75 per person. All of these are served with two salads and freshly baked bread.

Fully equipped big Cottage (No 5) with kitchen and seperate bedroom, aircon, bbq etc. Pool and swings for children. Very nice landlords served a great breakfast. A very nice place to stay with children!

De Denne was a fantastic cosy guesthouse, with very helpful staff, nice bedrooms, and very beautiful views of the Olifants River. I can recommend it to everyone, who looks for good accommodation in the Little Karoo.

We just loved our stay at De Denne. Warm and cosy interior. Friendly staff and kids fell in love with the farm dogs. We wish we could have stayed longer. We hope to return.
