Description
Nieu Bethesda lies in a narrow valley, has no street lights and is only about one mile wide and two miles long - home to less than a thousand people. Today Nieu Bethesda is a retreat for artists, crafters and other creative spirits who have been attracted by its slow, offbeat character. Its rustic charm is also what attracts tourists to the village and, because of its isolation, it has retained a lot of its original historical integrity. Nieu Bethesda has only a couple of main streets, a few guest houses, restaurants, a pub and a couple of art galleries.
Daisy Cottage is situated in Nieu Bethesda, some 60 km from Graaff-Reinet, and is quite isolated with only two roads in and out of the village. Nieu Bethesda is home to Helen Martin's "Owl House". The "Owl House" has an extraordinary collection of cement statues, the creation of Helen Martin, and a place that must definitely be visited.
The large double room is very well appointed and comfortable with its own seperate entrance. The bedroom consists of two single beds or a king-size bed (per guests' request). The French doors open onto the Karoo-style patio and overlook the garden. Secure off-road parking is available to guests. Breakfast is served on request. Daisy Cottage is within easy walking distance to Owl House and Fossil Museum and restaurants.
