Chitwa Chitwa Private Game Lodge basks in the serene and distinctive unmasked beauty of the lowveld African bush, within the world renowned Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, Greater Kruger National Park. The lodge stands sentry over one of the reserve's largest lakes - which bids a silent summons at dawn and dusk to the ever-present wildlife, including the "Big 5" . It is not unusual for guests to catch sight of hippo occasionally yawning, a giraffe slowly lowering its neck to slake its thirst, large herds of antelope jostling for the best spot, buffalo wallowing in the mud, or elephant swimming and playing in the water - from the viewing deck in front of the lodge, or even from their private patio in front of their room! Chitwa Chitwa offers the ultimate game viewing experience, is one of the few private game lodges that accepts children of all ages, and also offers special honeymoon and wedding packages.
Imagine a seamless blend of authentic African design with eclectic European elegance, and you will conjure up the unique style and character of this Lodge. Hidden among the lush gardens, each of the ten lovingly and individually crafted chalets are wrapped in unfaltering luxury.
Chitwa Chitwa Game Lodge offers a combination of different room types to suite all tastes and requirements. These include 4x Safari Standard rooms, 1 x Family room, 2 x Game Standard rooms, 2 x Luxury Suites, and 1 x Boulders Suite
All the chalets have en-suite bathrooms, a restful lounge area, and a private patio. All rooms are equipped with modern comforts including air conditioning, overhead fans, mosquito netting, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone, hair dryer, and bathroom amenities. Additional facilities in the luxury suites and Boulders suite include his and hers bathrobes, digital safe, and sherry in the room on arrival.
The family room offers two separate bedrooms, and two bathrooms, and is ideal for couples with 1 to 4 children. The Family room has a view of the lake from its private patio.
The most extravagant of the chalets is Boulders, the honey moon suite, which has its own private plunge pool, and stunning view of the lake from their exclusive patio
There are few that can resist the call of an Africa sunrise, or that of a magnificent fish eagle as he soars through the hazy, cloudless skies... But for a real African experience, nothing compares to the exhilaration of a game drive through the bush in an open-topped Land Rover, guided by experienced rangers and trackers, whose passion for the area is infectious.
Tracking the wildlife is exciting, but never more so than when it is one of the Big Five (leopard, lion, buffalo, elephant and rhinoceros). They share the rugged bushveld with cheetah, hyena, wild dog, giraffe, hippo, warthog, zebra, wildebeest, baboon and antelope, in a primordial alliance that captures the heart of Africa
Game drives are undoubtedly the highlight of the Chitwa Chitwa experience. On game drive, the game rangers will bring you up close to the wildlife, allowing for outstanding photographic opportunities, and the chance to witness some incredible animal behavior. Guests are often privileged to witness a mother nurturing her young, males fighting aggressively for territory, mating, and the miracle of birth... Don't be fooled by the odd yawn of a lion or a leopard after an afternoon snooze, because at any minute an impala could sound the warning bark, and a hunt could ensue ....
Two game drives are conducted every day, one in the early morning, and one in the late afternoon into the night.
A safari walk with your ranger and tracker allows you to experience the smaller wonders of the bush. Follow the tell tale signs of spoor, marvel at the birdlife, learn interesting stories about the trees, and discover fascinating creatures like mongoose and dung beetles...
The views of the lake from the viewing deck and the two swimming pools is spectacular. Indulging in the clever design which brings the outside in, the game viewing deck flows on to the magnificent thatch roofed bar and lounge area which melts into the surrounding trees, rendering you invisible to the game gathering on the open plains.
Food is a sensory delight, but at Chitwa Chitwa it doesn't just tantalize the palate, eyes and nose. Here, meals are as much a social feast as a culinary one: savor the intriguing combination of African and Mediterranean dishes, accompanied by select wines from an extensive wine cellar.
Dinner is relished in the boma around a glowing log fire, under a canopy of millions of stars ... or, in the elegant dining room. Candles, crystal glassware, and silver cutlery add just a touch of romance to the evening.
Chitwa Chitwa offers is well known as being one of the most romantic honeymoon destinations, and the perfect wedding venue to say “I do”. Chitwa Chitwa offers a full wedding package, including the minister, flowers, photography, cake and all the finer details a bride could wish for.
Luxury, privacy, innate warmth, and outstanding game viewing, are all integral pleasures of the remarkable experience that is Chitwa Chitwa, creating affectionate memories that will linger with you long after you leave the Lodge's gracious company.
