Description

Casa Madeira is a fully-equipped self-catering accommodation facility situated in Southern Mozambique, 15 km from the Kosi Bay, South African border and 4 km north of Ponta Malongane.

It is located on a private stretch of beach within a dune forest with a wooden walkway onto the beach. The unit offers six en-suite bedrooms comprising three rooms with queen-size beds and three rooms with twin beds. Four additional pull-out beds with mattresses and linen are also available. All linen and bath towels are provided and the unit is serviced daily by a full-time maid.

The kitchen facilities include an upright fridge-freezer combo, microwave oven, electric kettle, five-plate gas hob and electric oven. There is a drinks cooler on the deck and a large chest freezer in the laundry which also includes a washing machine, tumble dryer, and ironing facilities. In addition to the open-plan kitchen and lounge area, the unit boasts an 81 square metre deck, with a super large al fresco dining table with benches that offer amazing sea views. Barbecue facilities include a portable stainless steel charcoal barbecue and a Weber which can be used on the open deck.

Ponto do Ouro, also known as Point of Gold, is the first of seven points between Kosi Bay and Santa Maria which was mostly abandoned during the recent civil war. This has now made a major come back in recent years with a number of buildings being renovated and many new buildings and developments. Diving and fishing are major attractions. Dolphin Encounters, a non-profit organisation that has researched Ponta's local 300 strong pod for the past 12 years offers "swimming with dolphins" and has its headquarters in Ponto do Ouro.
