Come and soothe away the tensions, as you relax in the calm ambience of Calderwood Hall, a four star Edwardian Guest House nestled in the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Epitomising timeless elegance, the manor house has five metre high steel pressed ceilings, large fire places, bay windows and an abundance of beautiful antique and unusual furniture. An impressive wooden staircase takes centre stage in the entrance hall which also boasts a plethora of stained-glass feature windows. Calderwood Hall is surrounded by dams, forests and beautiful gardens with a swimming pool, gazebo, ornamental fountain and ancient oak trees.
Every meal feels like an occasion, when served in the Calderwood Hall dining room. It is a spacious, elegant room with five metre high steel pressed ceilings, built in dresser, huge fireplace, exquisite mural, yellowwood floors and large sash windows which overlook the gardens.
The drawing room is tastefully decorated and you can soothe away tensions as you relax in the calm ambience or enjoy a crackling log fire on winter days.
Our most popular accommodation is located within the Manor House itself. Each suite is exquisitely decorated with a different cultural theme. All the rooms are non-smoking, have TVs, tea and coffee making facilities, heaters and fans and the beds have feather duvets and electric blankets for those chilly winters days.
This is a venue designed for special occasions with its large draped chandeliered function room and thatched stained glass chapel. It opens up on one side so that guests can look out onto the breathtaking surrounds. You can look forward to tasty food, beautifully presented and a quiet, no fuss, management style. The function venue is ideal for that fairy-tale wedding, a country break away or that out-of-town business conference or team building session.
